Known as the site of "Italian Stonehenge", a few kilometers from Montalbano Elicona, these masterpiece are imposing megaliths, to mark astronomical calendars from ancestral charm.
The peculiarity of these megaliths is their resemblance to real-world figures: among the most famous are remembered sexual male and female symbols, the Orante (big massive anthropomorphic, with hands clasped in prayer) and the eagle with wings semi explained.
The dolmens and the "cuburri"
Nearby there are the remains of "dolmens" belonging to a necropolis and features stone buildings (so-called "cubburi"): these are small buildings spread in Sicily, in particular in the area of Nebrodi, originally built in areas intended to pasture and used for the shelter of the shepherds.
