The “Malabotta” Forest
The woods are located in a splendid natural reserve facing the Etna, between the range of the Peloritani and the Nebroidi. Full of various herbs species, it is populated by exceptional fauna consisting of mammals, night and daytime birds such as Royal Eagle and owls.
The forest covers 700 hectares.
The Elicona river and water mills
The Elicona river originates in “Agrimosco” and “Losi” and flows down to the Tirreno Sea passing between Falcone and Tindari.
The water mills, used to grind wheat, have been built along the river over the centuries.
Now that the mills are all ruined, the existing walls and wheels surrounded by the vegetation still evoke their suggestive presence.
